What qualifies as a dental emergency? Any injury or pain related to your teeth and gums is considered a dental emergency. For example, sudden toothaches, objects lodged between teeth cannot be removed with floss, cracked or chipped teeth, and loose or lost dental restoration are all reasons to contact your dentist. Loose or knocked-out teeth are also causes for immediate concern, and should be addressed right away. If you encounter one of these situations, give us a call to schedule a visit. When you arrive, you will find you have the waiting room to yourself, and in between each visit our team cleans and disinfects surfaces and tools. We will practice strict health and safety protocols to keep our patients and team members safe!
If a tooth hurts or something is stuck between them and causing discomfort, then rinse with warm water and gently floss on either side of the tooth. Is this fails to address the issue, then take a pain reliever and give our team a call.
If a tooth is damaged, try to recover any lost pieces and bring them with you. A bit of cloth or gauze could control bleeding, and you could reduce facial swelling by placing an ice pack or cold compress against the side of the face. Remember, even minor damage could expose the inner tooth structure to bacteria allowing cavities or infection to develop, so contact our team right away.
If a tooth is knocked-out, then pick it up by the crown never touch the roots, and place it in a glass of milk or salt water and bring it with you to the office!
For minor damage, we may use dental bonding to provide a lifelike repair in one visit. For more substantial injuries, our team can craft a crown from durable and lifelike materials to ensure your repair looks natural. We can replace loose or lost restorations as well.
